Location

The conference will be held in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Portland is a vibrant city known for its focus on sustainable living, arts communities, and regional natural beauty. You don’t want to miss this fabulous event, held at the Downtown Portland Embassy Suites, a beautiful hotel within walking distance from a waterfront park, world class shopping, art galleries, and a multitude of restaurants. Parking

Parking in downtown Portland Oregon can be stressful and time consuming.  Here is an alternative way to take in the sites on your way to join us for the 1st Annual Midwifery and Mothercare Educators Conference, June 16-20, 2010, Portland Oregon.

One great way is to use Tri-met/Max trains.  Fairless commute starts at the Lloyd Center Max stop (stop ID #8374) Ride Blue, Green or Red Lines to Oak and SW 1st Ave Max stop.  Walk 0.2 mile NW to 319 SW Pine St. Embassy Suites, Portland, Oregon 97204.

Things to Do

BRING THE FAMILY and enjoy many nearby outdoor activities including boating, fishing, jet skiing, and sailing. Golf enthusiasts can choose from five courses within a short distance from the hotel. Tax-free shopping and restaurants are only a short walk away. The MAX Light Rail System is available by hotel shuttle and travels into downtown Portland. Babes in arms are welcome at the conference and in the sessions.  However, we ask that you please be considerate of those attending sessions by leaving the room if your baby is being loud.  Many of the sessions will be audio-recorded, and equipment is very sensitive to even small noises.   For those with children that are toddlers or older, please make childcare arrangements during sessions.  You can contact Nanny-to-Go, Carol Gulbrand, at 503-635-3205.  She is registered with the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and has been a practicing nanny for 28 years. Cost

Want to attend but can't afford it? Save money by sharing a room, also local people have offered to put people up in their homes. For people with financial hardship we can arrange a payment plan, charge your credit/debit card in a few smaller payments. Or do a work exchange. Contact us for details. A few limited partial scholarships are still available. Don't let the money stop you, we will work it out. Work a day at the conference and attend a day. We need workers before hand as well.
